Confirming the developments, the official Twitter account of the Islamabad police stated, "Imran Khan has been arrested in the Qadir Trust case," referring to the corruption case at hand. The timing of Imran Khan's arrest raised eyebrows, as it came merely a day after the influential army had accused him of levelling baseless allegations against a senior officer from the country's intelligence agency, the ISI.
In the midst of the unfolding events, Musarrat Cheema, a prominent PTI leader, took to Twitter to share her concerns, asserting that Imran Khan was currently being subjected to torture. She expressed anguish over the alleged mistreatment and claimed, "They are torturing Imran Khan right now... they are beating Khan sahib.
Adding further details to the chaotic sequence, Imran Khan's aide, Fawad Chaudhry, disclosed that the former premier's car had been surrounded, ultimately leading to his forcible removal from the court premises and his subsequent placement into a police vehicle. Chaudhry described the entire incident as an "abduction," raising questions about the circumstances surrounding Imran Khan's arrest. As per Chaudhry, Imran Khan is now in the custody of the security forces, further heightening concerns about his well-being and the legal process surrounding his case.
WHAT HAPPENED AT COURT?
Senior party leader Shireen Mazari reported that Imran Khan, who had made the journey from Lahore to Islamabad, was in the midst of a biometric process at the court when the Rangers forcibly entered by breaking open a glass window. They proceeded to arrest him after engaging in physical altercations with lawyers and Imran Khan's security personnel. The incident was captured on television, where footage depicted the Rangers grabbing Khan by the collar and forcefully bundling him into a prison van.
